This is super sad. Angelina Jolie revealed late Friday that she will not be able to attend upcoming promotional events and the big Hollywood premiere of her film Unbroken because she has chickenpox.
In a pretty unprecedented YouTube video called "A Message from Universal Pictures About Angelina Jolie," a visibly upset and spotty (but still somehow more gorgeous than even seems possible) Angelina speaks to the camera, saying "I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I would be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chickenpox."

"So, I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can't believe it because this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it, but such is life. There it is. Send everyone my love and I hope everything goes well."
"You have to laugh at the timing. I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken," she said in a statement from Universal. "I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie’s family, Phil’s daughter Karen, veterans, and all the guests who are coming."
It's been an intense week for Angie, after ugly leaked emails from Hollywood execs Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal saw the actress being called out for "insanity and [a] rampaging spoiled ego." Then on Wednesday, she ran into Pascal at a Hollywood event, and pretty much gave her the most perfect Maleficent stare (and maybe chickenpox) ever. Nothing like finding out your co-workers are talking trash, right?
And yes, adults can get the 'pox, especially when they're around lots of kids — which Angie, who has six children with husband Brad Pitt — pretty much must be all the time.
While most people get chickenpox as children (there are even dangerous chickenpox parties) and emerge with nothing more than a scar or two, getting the illness as an adult can not only be very scary, but can also lead to further health complications. We feel terrible for the director and hope she takes care of herself and feels better soon.
