Ellen Page made headlines last month, when she came out as a lesbian during a moving speech at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation Time To THRIVE event. While some suggested that her admission might put her career in danger, Hollywood just shrugged, because, well, Page is still one of the most talented young actresses working today, gay, straight, or otherwise.
In fact, her first role since coming out might very well be that of a straight romantic lead, further proof that Hollywood is more open-minded than some observers may think. Page is in talks to star opposite Emile Hirsch in Steve Conrad's upcoming John Belushi biopic. Page would play Judith Jacklin, Belushi's high-school-sweetheart-turned-wife, who now goes by Judith Belushi-Pisano, and is also one of the film's producers.
The upcoming drama is set to detail Belushi's meteoric rise to fame in the late '70s as a star on Saturday Night Live, and his tragic fall from grace. The actor was only 33 when he died of a drug overdose.
While Page still may be in early talks for the role, the actress can soon be seen in the upcoming super hero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, and is set to begin filming the spy movie Queen and Country later this year. (Empire Online)
