Sarah Silverman’s Tribute To Her Dog Will Make You Cry

Your trusty R29 editors are some of the biggest animal lovers around. We've got our favorite four-legged friends, and we're never too busy to stop and give the day's office dog a cuddle. So, when we stumbled upon Sarah Silverman's heartfelt pet obituary, we were moved to tears.
The comedian recently lost her 19-year-old chihuahua mix, Duck, who had been her faithful friend for almost 15 years. She eulogized him on her WhoSay account, recounting their time together and his health issues as he got older. "That’s where I found him — at that shelter, in Van Nuys. Since then we have slept most every night together (and many lazy afternoons)," she said. "He was a happy dog, though serene. And stoic. And he loved love." She also shared about Duck's final moments, and her tearful goodbye as he was put to sleep. "My boyfriend Kyle flew in late last night and took the day off from work to be with us," she wrote. "We laid in bed and massaged his tiny body, as we love to do — hearing his little 'I'm in heaven' breaths."
We can't even begin to do justice to her thoughtful essay, so head over to her WhoSay account to read it in its entirety. And, trust: Animal lover or not, there won't be a dry eye in the house when you finish. (WhoSay)
