In It To Win It: Mulleavy Sisters Honored With Another Fashion Award

Put aside their CFDA award nominations and win, A-list clientele, and killer costume designs (hello, Black Swan) for a quick second, and take in this moment so important to fashion-obsessed Chicagoans everywhere: On May 3, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago will bestow Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy with the prestigious Legend of Fashion award.
Says SAIC president Walter E. Massey: “This year, it is a special privilege to honor both Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte who, like many of these students, began their creative explorations at such a young age....”
The designers will be celebrated at SAIC's 79th annual fashion show, which will feature more than 300 pieces by SAIC's undergraduate students. But, believe us when we say this is no amateur hour; alumni include Halston, Cynthia Rowley, and Maria Pinto — all legends in their own right.
Tickets ($40-$75) are available at and will be sold at the door on the day of the event. (SAIC)
