Gizzi Erskine Goes Burlesque At Her Latest Book Launch

Last night at the W Hotel, the champagne was flowing, the music was pumping and the go-go dancers were, well, jumping! All in aid of our favorite TV chef and cookery writer, Gizzi Erskine, whose latest culinary effort, Skinny Weeks and Weekend Feasts, launches this week. The principle is that for six days of the week, you can eat three healthy, tasty meals that add up to 1,500 calories — and then for one day of the week you can let your imagination (and your taste buds) run wild with decadent dishes that make the mouth water.
True to the former body piercer’s singular tastes, the party thrown in her honour showcased all her passions. A rockabilly band, a burlesque dancer (complete with beehive and tattoo sleeves), and a troupe of go-go dancers in patent knee-high boots and '60s bathing suits were all present and accounted for. The music was provided by our new favorite DJ duo, the Broken Hearts DJs. Oh, and Jo Wood, Dawn O’Porter, Daisy Lowe, and Amber Atherton were all in attendance, and Gizzi looked resplendent in her trademark '60s mini-dress and backcombed beehive. We have a feeling we're all going to be seeing a lot more of this lady this year. And we are ready.
