The AJ And The Queen Cast Is Ready To Work

Ready for a road trip? RuPaul's new Netflix series is prepared to sweep you off your feet and take you on a dazzling adventure. The cast of AJ and the Queen includes a lot of Broadway talent who know how to put on a show, and some fresh faces, too.

The series follows a drag queen who ends up accidentally acquiring a pre-teen best friend while on the road trying to change her life after a betrayal sets her back both financially and spiritually. The unlikely pair bond as they get to know each other, and form a little family. It's basically The Mandalorian with wigs and sequins — though Netflix more aptly describes it as "part Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, part Touched by an Angel" and promises a "killer musical number" at every stop on the way. Would you expect anything less?

RuPaul superfans will recognize several of their favorite Drag Race queens performing in AJ & The Queen, including Trinity The Tuck, Jujubee, Latrice Royale, Monique Heart, Roy Haylock, Chad Michaels, James Leyva, David Huggard, and more. But as for the characters that populate this loving and colorful universe, here are the actors you can look forward to seeing in AJ and the Queen.

Uhhh, are you new? The model, drag queen, and television personality is a legend. There's Drag Race, his self-titled talk show, But I'm A Cheerleader, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar, and the 1993 hit single "Supermodel (You Better Work)." Even Angela Chase's dad on My So-Called Life knew and stanned RuPaul.

You've definitely heard him. He plays another Louis, an alligator, in The Princess and the Frog, and has leant his voice to a lot of animated kids' shows. Josh Segarra Plays Hector/Damian Sanchez

Who Is Hector/Damien?
The casting breakdown describes Ruby’s boyfriend as a hot, "straight acting" man pretending to be something he's not who may have a dark, dangerous secret. Ruby gave her savings to him so that they could open a drag club and he runs off with it. Why does he have two names, and a mustache in just part of the trailer? Maybe that has something to do with his "hidden side."

Where You've Seen Segarra
He plays Adrian Chase in the Arrow-verse, a CO on Orange is the New Black, and Brooke's lovable and dopey ex-boyfriend Lance on The Other Two. Segarra is also a Broadway performer who starred in On Your Feet and Lysistrata Jones, and you might even recognize him from The Electric Company.
