We're longtime fans of the multi-hyphenated model Irene Kim. With her stand-out unicorn hair and uncanny ability to stop traffic, the Seattle-based South Korean has quickly risen to fame as a street style star. And it looks like she can add another line to her already impressive résumé: She is the new global beauty contributor for Estée Lauder (a role which includes creating content for the brand's online and social media platforms).
The social media sensation spoke with Estee edit about all things beauty, and even divulged some of her favorite products. Her mother introduced her to the beloved Advanced Night Repair Serum, but (like most of us) she's also a fan of lip tints, BB Creams, and sheet masks.
As we know, women in South Korea take their skin care very seriously— and Kim is no exception. "I've always had sensitive skin, so I'm always on the hunt for any soothing remedy," she says. "I like to keep my steps simple though, because I feel like too much won't let my skin breathe. I keep it to five steps: cleansing, toning, essence, moisturizing, and sun-blocking. In the morning, I simply wash my face with water instead of cleansing."
What surprised us most about the interview is the reaction to her signature colored hair: "I remember people telling me that I wasn't going to get any more work because it was just not normal for Asian girls to have colored hair!" she reveals. "But now, it has become a part of my identity. My rainbow hair definitely influences my style and makeup, but it doesn't define me."
