From her long-past tryst with Travie McCoy, to her doomed marriage with Russell Brand, to her on-again, off-again saga with John Mayer, Katy Perry is no stranger to being publicly scrutinized about her celebrity partnerships. But, for all the paparazzi pics and gossip-rag rumors, we actually know very little about her former flings — until she came (semi) clean in her recent Vogue interview.
While she's still staying mum on the official reason behind her divorce from Brand, she did discuss the end of the marriage, and the abrupt demise it came to. "He's a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him," she said. "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011." Die-hard Perry fans have been privy to this salacious tidbit since the release of her movie Part Of Me, but the rest of us are reeling from the harshness of it all. While Perry is quick to admit that she wasn't faultless in the marriage's end (she cites her constant touring as a source of contention), there's no denying that discussing such a shockingly heartless gesture wasn't entirely without its motives.
Regardless of the damage done by her unholy matrimony, Perry (rather quickly) found herself back in the arms of a famous man — her slightly tumultuous relationship with John Mayer has been hard not to follow with bated breath. She claims the on-again off-again fling is now securely in the "off" position, but cops to being just as fascinated by the outlandish singer as the rest of us. "I was madly in love with him," she says. "l still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind."
