Are The Prices Of Beauty Products Gendered?

It's not exactly I-hope-you're-sitting-down, groundbreaking news that women outspend men when it comes to beauty — but, a poll conducted by The Huffington Post reveals just how many more products comprise the average woman's daily beauty regimen.
The statistic that really caught our eye? That 54% of men don't use a single beauty product in the morning. We're talkin' no face wash, moisturizer — nada. Meanwhile, 17% of women reported using three to four products, and 7% copped to using up to six items in their routines (we actually feel like this percentage is on the low end, but... we might be a little beauty biased).

The poll didn't break down the average spend on each reported product, but did cite research published last year in Marie Claire that, "On average women pay $151 billion in extra fees and markups that men don't have to pay." So, the $426 billion women spend on beauty each year isn't all purely product — it's true we're buying more, but unfortunately, we're paying more for it. Basically, being a woman is expensive.
