For Brides Who Aren’t Into The Whole Dress Thing…

In case you haven't heard — and how is that possible? — Olivia Palermo and longtime boyfriend Johannes Huebl tied the knot two weeks ago. It was big, headline-making news for the fashion world, people. And, to no one's surprise, the It bride took her sartorial prowess to new heights for the quiet ceremony in Bedford, New York, ditching the whole dress thing altogether. Instead, Palermo opted for custom Carolina Herrera separates — namely a cream, ostrich-feathered cashmere sweater with white crepe shorts accented by a full tulle skirt with floral details.
Given this pretty lady's track record — be it running errands or sitting front row for Couture Fashion Week — we expected nothing less. We're even willing to overlook Palermo's bizarre choice of cashmere for a summer wedding given that the complete bridal look is truly stunning. As for her something blue? She wore it on her feet. Go figure.
Now, in our humble opinion, this alternative wedding style is one worth taking notes on. Sure, separates won't be everyone's cup of tea, but ahead is proof the look can be every bit as elegant and timeless as a traditional, white gown. So, go on, the three outfits in this slideshow (including a Palermo-inspired option, of course) are just too good to leave standing at the altar un-clicked.
