Get Your Grub On With An All-Out Fest At D.C.’s New Foodie Hotspot

You already know we love a good picnic. But we're always trying to up our outdoor-cuisine game. And you know what could top a scenic locale and a rustic basket of gourmet goodies? A picnic helmed by the likes of Scott Drewno of The Source and Jeff Black of BlackSalt and Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, with bites from favorite spots like Oyamel and Sticky Fingers, and drinks from Peregine Espresso and Jack Rose. With 23 food and drink vendors, cool DJs specializing in old-school soul, and a giant waterslide, we can see why Saturday's culinary event has been dubbed the Summer Picnic Spectacular.

The Spectacular will set up shop at the soon-to-open Union Market in Northeast, which is set to be the Next Big Thing in foodie destinations — so, consider this your chance to get a sneak preview. And while this summer shindig is a collab with nightlife superstars Brightest Young Things, this afternoon affair is totally family-friendly. You don't even need to BYO basket — a $5 advance ticket gets you into the event, where you can take your pick of the à la carte options.
