Successfully completing a DIY project puts us over the moon. But sometimes, the process can leave us anxiously nibbling at our manicures. Thankfully, Topaz + Arrow, the crafting workshop series dreamed up by accessories designer Virginia Arrisueño and creative guru Morgan Hungerford West, has allowed us to indulge our crafty sides while keeping our nerves in check. On Sunday, August 25, the duo will host their next monthly crafting workshop, entitled “Lace, Lighting, and Jars" — which promises to be just as ethereal and beautiful as it sounds. Sign up for the two-hour session and learn how to make one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures, all while snacking and socializing with like-minded DIY'ers.
Not satisfied yet? Head back over for the End of Summer Bummer party on August 29. Give your fingers a rest this time, and enjoy music, food, and amazing decor while you take in screenings of short films made by local filmmakers. Both events are going down at the gorgeous Ulysses Room inside the 52 O Street artist studios, so be prepared to leave with a serious case of loft envy.
When: Sunday, August 25, from 1 to 3 p.m.; Thursday, August 29, from 8 to 11 p.m.
Where: The Ulysses Room, 52 O Street NW, Studio 302; no phone. Buy tickets here.
