You Buy The Drink, Tavernita Will Take Care Of The Food

2
With a restaurant or bar on every corner and perpetual new openings, it's pretty easy to indulge in this town. So, when we hear of a deal that involves eating and drinking in one fell swoop, we're all ears stomachs.
All you need to do is head to River North's Tavernita between 5 and 7 p.m. on any given day of the week, and you'll be treated to complimentary tapas, like steak tartare crostini, pork belly sliders, or housemade meatballs. But, of course, there is one stipulation: You have to drink. And, as long as the need beckons, opt for the "Tap for Tap" cocktail special ($12), benefiting Freshwater Future — an amazing organization that helps to ensure the health and safety of our Great Lakes. As if that wasn't enough of an excuse to raise a glass, the libations are created by a different guest mixologist each month. So, for the rest of April, you can partake of the Danjou, (blanco tequila, creme de cassis, Suze, Peychaud's bitters, and lemon peel), courtesy of James Beard award winner David Wondrich. So, cheers! Cleaner water — and a better week — are just a drink away.
Tavernita, 151 West Erie (at La Salle); 312-274-1111.
