Maybe Miami has a glam, bikini-wearing, South Beach reputation to outsiders – but those who live here know that we love getting sweaty and, more importantly, that there's plenty of grit under the Magic City's fingernails. That's why we're psyched that our town has finally secured itself a team in the bone-breakin', face-smashin', all-woman sport of roller derby. That's right, this Sunday marks the first time the Vice City Rollers (love the name) take to the track in their debut game against the against the Bradentucky Bombers. Now, alas, the all-rookie team will be fighting all the way West in Brandenton – but, never fear, all the bloody noses, bruises, and high-speed collisions will soon be coming to town in at a local venue. Until then, practices are held at the Suniland Hockey Rink and the team's always looking for more fresh meat to add to their crew of furious, fabulous ladies. So hit their Facebook page and get ready to root 'em on. Miami finally has a smashmouth sports team that looks good in skirts. (Huffington Post)
