NYC’s Favorite Designers Dress Sidewalk Statues

While we know Michael Kors for his acerbic tongue on Project Runway, he's going to be on our radar this summer on a different kind of runway— Project Broadway. The Sidewalk Catwalk Project, organized by the Fashion Center Business Improvement District, is sponsoring a three-month-long couture event where our favorite designers will be the contestants, not the judges. Kors, along with Tommy Hilfiger, Diane von Furstenberg, Norma Kamali, Kenneth Cole, and Isaac Mizrahi will be dressing Broadway mannequins all the way from Times Square to Herald Square, with the help of Parsons and FIT students. Though Nina and Heidi won't be around to comment on the outfits (we wouldn't want to see any teary contestants!), the designs (complete with mannequin!) will be auctioned off to support
Materials for the Arts
, an organization that supplies recycled art materials to creative groups and public schools. In the wise words of Tim Gunn: "Make it work!"(Racked)
