Just In! Feist Will Headline This Year’s Newport Folk Festival

There's something to be said for massive festivals with million-dollar headliners, $300 weekend passes, and $8 waters, but sometimes, it just seems like it's just all too much. Fear not, jaded festivalgoers, there's still a place for you. The Newport Folk Festival, founded way back in 1959, is a fantastic chance to visit Newport's Fort Adams State Park, enjoy some beautiful scenery, and yes, listen to top-notch talent.
Which brings us to our exclusive announcement: One of the headliners of the festival is none other than Feist, whose mercurial blend of folk, pop, and rock fits beautifully alongside the festival's ever-broadening sound, while keeping nicely with its half-century old tradition. Feist may be most famous for her smash "1,2,3,4," but from her work on 2011's riotously emotional Metals, to the slinky, infectious sounds of The Reminder, she's refused to settle on one genre or bend to expectation. Like the festival she's playing, Feist has expanded her inimitable voice, while bringing it to new and unexpected places. If you ask us, the Newport Folk Fest folks couldn't have made a better choice.
Feist will join artists including Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Amanda Palmer, Colin Meloy, Jim James, and more on July 26 through 28. Check out the full lineup here, and see you in Rhode Island. (The Newport Folk Festival)
