March Madness: Sports Bars You Can Actually Tolerate

It's March, and you know what that means: crappy weather, tax season, and a lot of basketball. If your beloved insists on dragging you from sports bar to sports bar to ensure the safety of his bracket, at least you can compromise on a venue. Here's our list of sporty spots that will satisfy your b-ball addict without making you constantly reach for hand sanitizer.

1. Frontier
Starting today, Frontier gets in on all the hoops action by offering guests eleven 42-inch HD televisions and two 6-foot projectors in a comfy, upstairs lounge. Better still, sample 16 different draft beer options in one of Frontier's Final Four Flights for $12. This is our first pick for fun this March, simply because Frontier is more focused on cozy atmosphere and cuisine than it is on who's winning rightthisminute.
Frontier, 1072 North Milwaukee Avenue; 773-772-4322.

2. The Boundary
Do not be alarmed at the sight of this expansive sports mecca. The televisions will not attack you! Just sit down, peruse the menu, and wait for surprisingly delicious delights to arrive at your table. Insider tip: this one gets a little crowded during especially important games, so get there early to avoid a smushy situation at the bar. The Boundary, 1932 West Division Street; 773-278-1919.

3. Piece
When all else fails, distract yourself with delicious pizza. With flat screen televisions and house-made brews in equally impressive numbers, Piece is a sportsfan's boozy dream. Wise tagalongs know that the Piece also serves some of the tastiest pizza in Chicago, and gives us the option to control at least one part of our evening by building our own pie. Piece has daily specials Sunday through Thursday, so make this one your weeknight hotspot.
Piece, 1927 West North Avenue; 773-772-4422.
