Jeffrey Monteiro has been much buzzed about—on this very hub of style (we included him in our ones to watch in 2009 list) and elsewhere. If you're unconvinced that this guy's the real deal (you skeptic), check out his fall '09 collection: cropped trousers, casual-perfect dresses that nip in at the waist, and airy sleeveless blouses in fall-fabulous shades of taupe, cerulean, greige, black, and some splashes of red. Monteiro cites Dutch and Flemish masters of 16th and 17th Century painting as influences, but—in all honesty—we see nothing but modern chic here.
