As this DIY piece pretty clearly indicates, we've got a major thing for terrariums and other low-maintenance greenery. So imagine our excitement when we learned of an upcoming show devoted entirely to these tiny, beautiful, and self-contained eco-systems.
New-ish Valencia Street gallery Carte Blanche is inviting terrarium maker Crooked Nest (helmed by local artist Elena Powditch and architect Candace Silvey) to set up its very first green-themed show.
While the duo primarily focuses on garden design, including rooftop greenery, creative-living walls, and succulent gardens, these large-scale hand-blown glass terrariums are somewhat more accessible for the Average Joe.
Hand-blown by local artisans, and featuring locally sourced plants and found materials, the whole gamut of Crooked Nest's unique creations will be on display for the first time this Thursday night. Deets below!
When: Thursday, February 2, 7 p.m.
Where: Carte Blanche, 973 Valencia Street (between 21st and Liberty streets); 415-821-1055.
