Chicago Q’s Got All Your Favorite Derby Day Fixings

main
This week gave us a little taste of beach season. But before you stock up on kale and cucumbers, head to Chicago q’s “Derby q” viewing party on Saturday. Once you hear what’s on the menu, well, let’s just say your juicer will still be there on Sunday. But first, get your fancy hat ready and book your reservation for the May 4 fiesta, which runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, the $42 ticket price includes some rather decadent bites.
Are you ready for this? The all-you-can-eat buffet will be piled with Louisville-style fare, including bacon-cheddar hushpuppies, pulled-pork sliders, three types of deviled eggs, ham and biscuits, Hot Brown sandwiches — yep, we’re still going — corn pudding, cheesy garlic grits, and Kentucky Derby pie with pecans and chocolate. Your welcome cocktail is on the house; then, belly up to the cash bar for Southern-style sips including mint juleps.

Don’t get too tipsy, though — you’ll want to place your bets wisely. You can buy three bets for $10, and one winner will get a $100 gift card to Chicago q and a basket of the restaurant’s homemade goodies, including sauces, rubs, and pickles. There’s also a prize for best hat. Tickets must be purchased in advance, so quit horsing around and head to this website, stat.
Chicago q, 1160 North Dearborn Street (at Division Street); 312-642-1160.
