Activewear Isn’t Going Anywhere — Here’s How To Style It For Right Now

Even when staying home was a choice and not a public health requirement, many of us still bopped around in activewear all day. But now that life once again allows for going out, aka occasions to excavate the other 98% of our closets, how do we channel our long-suppressed Big 'Fit Energy without giving up the comfort of four-way stretch?
Luckily, the juggernaut that is 24/7 workout clothes chugs on — but with a few revamps that feel much more of-the-moment. On-trend accessories! A color-coordinating trick that makes getting ready quicker than your response when a friend texts "pét-nat in the park?" Ahead, we've teamed up with Macy's and content creator Angela Rummans to bring you a lesson on the most up-to-date way to elevate how we've dressed for what feels like...forever.

Remember when everybody without a sourdough starter was tie-dying every clothing item within reach? This is extremely not that. While we'll always have a soft spot for the quarantine-era trophy tracksuit, the Summer '21 version is more cropped with a cleaner color scheme. Note the bum bag for hands-free in-person socializing (still can't believe we typed that).

While the handbag became nearly obsolete during lockdown, it's making an enormous comeback as we return to toting around more supplies than the phone/wallet/keys our sad solo walks required. We like a not-too-utilitarian backpack for this — the runway-inspired quilting also complements the top's star print for an all-black look with added visual interest.

Joggers, is that you? Here, the fleecy matching set gets ready to go on its first app date in a year (!) with a striking monochromatic color palette, a trick we often use to look instantly put-together.
Add a more body-con fit and non-flat footwear (!!), and the effect is very "nature is healing."
