It appears all those teen angst roles are finally catching up to her, because her outfit yesterday looked straight out of My So-Called Life. It's a little grungy, a little goth, and despite all that black, thoroughly fresh. And, it belongs in your closet even if you're not channeling an adolescent.

Roberts broke up the head-to-toe noir with a ribbed gray turtleneck that she cleverly layered under her silk dress. Tossing a slinky slip over your favorite sweater is a genius way to get more milage out of spring purchases. The trick is to avoid chunky knits. Cozy as they may be, they never look quite right layered under warm-weather pieces. She added Balenciaga biker boots and a moto jacket, then finished it off with opaque tights since it was especially dreary in New York. But, when you steal the look — and you absolutely should — feel free to skip the tights.
