After bringing Jay Gatsby back to the silver screen last year, Baz Luhrmann is setting his sights on another iconic character: Elvis Presley.
The Wrap reports that Luhrmann is in negotiations to direct the biopic about the seminal rock star, and Saving Mr. Banks writer Kelly Marcel is working on the original screenplay. Unlike the upcoming Jimi Hendrix film, which won't feature any of the guitar legend's original songs, Warner Bros. was able to secure the rights to Presley's catalog. We can't imagine a Luhrmann extravaganza without an excellent soundtrack.
Many actors have played Elvis on TV and in film over the years, so it will be interesting to see who they cast in the titular role. But, one thing's for sure. Somewhere, Uncle Jesse is definitely freaking out. (The Wrap)
