Doutzen Kroes — Before Dutch bombshell Doutzen Kroes earned her wings as a Victoria Secret Angel or hit the beach for H&M, she tried her hand at acting. Kroes said, “I was even ambitious enough to be in a play.” Seen here in this adorable photograph from her childhood, Kroes dons pigtails and a smattering of drawn-on freckles with a smile that proves she was born camera-ready.

Catherine McNeil — Thank goodness Catherine McNeil ditched the bunny ears for the high-fashion runways of Givenchy, Valentino, and the Donna Karan fall '14 campaign. The Australian beauty said, “I was 12 in this pic. I remember I was watching Big Brother.” We’ll let her off on this one with a warning, because after all, we all have a box of geeky adolescent photos lurking around somewhere.

Dree Hemingway — For the breathtaking Dree Hemingway, playing dress up was something she loved long before her modeling days. Before splashing the pages of Vogue and landing coveted cover spots on top fashion publications, Hemingway designed her own clothes out of items found around her grandparents’ house. She tells V, “That was a blanket that looked like prime wedding-dress material. I’d dress up in some random thing around the house, then drink tea with milk and lots of sugar and grilled cheese finger sandwiches, and that was that.” Alas, these days Hemingway leaves the styling to the professionals.

Carolyn Murphy — The '80s — and that pose — sure looked good on Carolyn Murphy. With a mug like that, it’s no wonder she is the signature face of Estée Lauder cosmetics. Murphy said, “Age 15. Ugh. I had used Sun In that summer, which turned my hair orange. Loved my Swatch watch and hoop earrings —so '80s!"
