Glamour Publishes Photo Of Daul Kim…3 Years After Her Suicide

Daul Kim was one of those rare models who exuded personality, whether it was through her amazing work on the runway, in ad campaigns, or on her dark, addictive blog, I Like To Fork Myself. Needless to say, we were devastated when she committed suicide three years ago. Her unexpected death created such waves in the industry that it's hard to believe anybody with even a remote interest in fashion didn't hear about it. But somehow, Glamour unwittingly used a photo of her (she's on the left) in their August 2012 issue for a story about denim trends.
The mag issued a statement saying that this was an old photo (obviously) taken by backstage photog Mark Leibowitz, and that they had no idea about Daul's death. Glamour's EIC Cindi Leive told Fashionista that she and her staff were "heartbroken to learn this news." News?!? Daul passed away in 2009. And, while we don't expect every layperson to know who she is, she was a major model before she passed, and her death was a huge tragedy within the fashion industry. Are models really that faceless/nameless to editors that they just run images without fact-checking? We hope not. (Fashionista)
Do you think this is an honest mistake or just plain old carelessness?
