Even if she was a total meanie, Joan Crawford had awesome style. And while Rachel Comey's recent resort 2012 collection wasn't at all inspired by the malevolent goddess, it shares the same haunting sophistication. In fact, Comey says she was feeling more of a holiday vibe than resort. "I was thinking about a cocktail party that I fantasize about hosting at my new place," she says. "One where I would wear an outfit inspired by men's pajamas with little cocktail shoes." And masks! The resort images were photographed by Yelena Yemchuck, and Comey says the concept was inspired by photo collage. "We looked to the work of Hannah Hoch and other surrealist collage images for inspiration," she says. As always, it was the mix of intricate patterns and texture along with some long and languid forms, like silk charmeuse maxi-gowns and that insanely gorgeous split-front romper (the jumpsuit of dreams!) that gave it the Rachel Comey stamp. All in all, we're totally digging it...and we're pretty sure Joan would, too.
