In need of a killer happy hour with people-watching galore? We've got just the spot for you. Starting next Thursday evening, Bi-Rite's food-centric non-profit, 18 Reasons, will open its doors to anyone and everyone looking to catch a drink, grub on cheese and sweets, listen to a live musician, and mix and mingle, all while relaxing in 18 Reasons' gorgeously rustic, candlelit space.
The weekly event, dubbed 18th Hour, will go from 5 to 9 p.m. and will include a rotating menu of Bi-Rite-sourced goodies (wine, beer, cheese, charcuterie, nuts, olives, Tartine bread, etc.), and any money that guests spend on eats and drinks will go right back into 18 Reasons, to fund initiatives on youth programming and community service.

"We decided to start 18th Hour for multiple reasons," Rosie Branson Gill of 18 Reasons tells us. "We want to offer our community a regular opportunity to enjoy 18 Reasons casually. Sunday through Wednesday most of our food classes require advance-purchase tickets, and we wanted to balance this with a weekly event that doesn't require reservations. Also, building community takes time, and having a regular event where people can meet up with neighbors and friends allows people to use 18 Reasons to create community that lasts."
After attending the lovely soft opening last night, we are anticipating this being something of a mob scene next week. We suggest getting there early, grabbing a space at the communal table, and winding down your week in a majorly elegant way.
