SIX SIX is the new eyewear boutique in Melbourne that's about to change the game. Led by Natalie Boffa, a former clinical optometrist, and retail queen Emma Buckley, the luxury store has turned your regular optometrist into a designer eyewear dream.
Buckley tells Refinery29 Australia there's no reason your glasses need to be boring, and knows exactly which trends are about to explode in Australia. So, if you're looking to upgrade your current collection of sunglasses or grab a new pair, here are the eyewear trends for 2026 that should be on your radar.

Fashion Tints

If you have a pair of dark-tinted sunnies, you might need to refresh your wardrobe. According to Buckley, 2026 is all about the light and colourful fashion tints. "Whether it's a beautiful little auburn lens, yellow, pink gradient or sweet blue and green colours, they're not dark tints anymore. We're seeing a lot of beautiful colours coming through [with] sunglasses," she says. "I love a classic black frame that they've just amplified the look by putting a beautiful auburn lens in there for something different."

Buckley believes designers who have embraced this fashion tint eyewear trend include Garrett Leight, Ahlem Eyewear and Bauhaus Glasses.

Lush Aviators

The second trend currently taking off in the eyewear space is the tried-and-true aviator style. Whether it's an acetate aviator, metal aviator or an oversized aviator, the designers are loving the shape. "The biggest trend at the moment that's happening in eyewear is definitely an aviator," Buckley says. "It's definitely been in the forefront of many of the designers' collections, I would say, for a little while now."
You can go chunky and big, or combine an aviator shape with a tinted lens. "It looks really lush without being over the top," she adds. Try Balmain Eyewear for a new set of shades.

Rimless Shades

Rimless is back in a big way, and there are so many creative designs you can use to feature your personality. From vintage detailing to gold-plated eyewear, it's an easy way to make a statement. Buckley loves Akoni Eyewear, Balmain Eyewear and Luce by UDM.
