This Is Our Jam: Selebrities, “Night Heat”

Even if you don't care for the music, you still have to hand it to Brooklyn’s Selebrities for coming up with some spectacularly gorgeous artwork for their “Night Heat” single. With its opaque bodies behind water-streaked glass and text formatted like a movie one sheet, the imagery would have worked equally well advertising a Michael Mann thriller. Fortunately, “Night Heat” sounds as sexy as it looks, with guitar that wouldn’t be out of place in Miami Vice, and a throbbing atmosphere that owes much to “How Soon Is Now?”-era The Smiths. As a dark piece of cinematic pop, “Night Heat” more than manages to live up to its packaging. (Gorilla vs Bear)
