What To Wear To Every Music Festival This Year

The countdown to festival season is almost over: Next weekend, SXSW descends upon Austin, TX. Then, it's Coachella in Indio, CA in early April. Showgoers may end up short on sleep, but certainly not on music — performances this year will include ACDC, Jack White, Drake, and Florence and the Machine, to name a few. To help you prep for the impending festivities, intense heat, and (in some cases) lots of dirt, we assembled five practical outfits that are sure to impress — at the actual venues, and on Instagram afterward. Ahead, you'll find all the fringe, mesh, and mirrored sunnies you'll need for the duration. SXSW
Festival season begins in Austin, at South by Southwest. This year, the event is set to be bigger than ever. With temperatures currently hovering in the upper 60s and low 70s, you can even attend it bare-ankled. Break out the linen culottes and tie-front tanks, stat.

Coachella
Aside from the music, Coachella is generally a celebrity-filled stomping ground, and it's most known for making festival fashion a global affair. You'll be A-okay in sporty bikini tops and cutoffs, but we love the idea of incorporating a springy dress into the lineup — with sneakers and a mesh backpack, obviously.
Governor's Ball
June still seems like a ways away, but it'll be here before we know it — and even frigid New York City will have warmed up by then (we hope). For the song-filled weekend, pair your crop tops with printed bermuda shorts and lug-sole sandals. Even if you're walking through muddied grass, you'll look cool doing it.
Bonnaroo
Next up on your summer-concert queue? Four days camping out in the fields of Manchester, Tennessee, for Bonnaroo. While the setting is seemingly idyllic, this is actually the time to leave your flower crown at home. Things can get messy. Instead of dainty duds, we're calling upon a trusty drawstring short, sturdy footwear, sunglasses, and lots of SPF.
Lollapolooza
August in Chicago is hot, but not swelteringly so. With this in mind, we're all about the flowy maxi dress: You'll get plenty of breeze while the sun is out, and coverage after it sets. If you're not keen on lugging around a shoulder bag or backpack, consider the fanny pack your BFF for three days of non-stop music (and walking around from set to set).
