Would You Wear These Venus Williams-Designed Clothes Off The Court?

Workout clothing need not be the bane of any gal's existence. Sure, your aerobics-ready clothes don't have to win any style awards, but as Venus Williams tells WWD, “If you don’t look good, you won’t play well.” While very few of us have the tennis chops of Ms. Williams, gym-goers can now scoop her sporty designs. Though EleVen, Venus' ready-to-wear apparel line, appeared a couple years ago, the winner of seven Grand Slam singles tournaments headed to Bath Club yesterday to relaunch her brand. Don't think this is another celeb-turned-designer; though she's certainly a powerhouse on the court, Williams actually studied Fashion Design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and plans for this to be daily wear, too. (Sadly, because of a deal with Nike, Williams said her sister Serena can't officially wear her creations on the court.)
The coolest part of the collection are the seasonally themed items, which take inspiration from whatever big tourney is currently on. For instance, in summer, she focuses on the French Open. Fall, she'll consider the U.S. Open, so not only are designs ever-changing, but they'll be relevant for tennis lovers, too. Not bad for a line that counts spandex as its most important material.
