With the sartorial powers-that-be proclaiming Spring 2006 the "season of the dress," Trasteverine's modern romantic frocks and skirts—arriving at South Williamsburg boutique Ghostown last month—come at the perfect moment to help usher in the freshly girlish trend. Made from luxurious silks, the new Los Angeles-based label's latest collection, called Silk Power, strikes a fine-tuned balance between sweetly feminine detailing and clean, striking silhouettes. The line includes standouts like the Batsleeve dress, a sleek column with draped open sleeves in 3-ply crepe, and a full skirt striped with ribbons that hits (flatteringly) just at the knee, all in classic shades of black and white. Timeless but a little sexy, Trasteverine is making clothes for a new brand of femme fatale.
