Just after we reported on the definitive, best of the best, cream of the crop Resort 2010 collections, we realized that some of our favorite designers had yet to turn out their latest efforts. With a couple of extra days to review the goods, we're back with a second round of glorious getaway-ready collections—so pull out your suitcases and get ready to take notes!
Most Fantasy Island-esque: Lanvin
Flowers and straw hats and, gasp, sneakers. Yes, it all makes for a fantastical display of glam adventure-wear thanks to Alber Elbaz. The saturated florals and lush gem tones, gathered and tucked into swingy floor-length numbers and tapered trousers make us totally swoon. And just to keep things extra fresh, Lanvin shakes things up by pairing his decidedly high-end looks with low-heeled pumps, jeweled flats, and even whimsical cap-toed high tops. No question, we'd frolic on Alber's Fantasy Island anytime.
Most Shapely: Balenciaga
Well, look who went and got all soft and feminine on us. We're not complaining--Nicolas does the Atomic Age as well he does the Space Age, and we're only too happy to take on his nipped waists, full skirts, and voluminous shorts for our next vacay. He even moves into the '60s, touching on some hippie style with his loose, ruffled floral numbers. Far out.
Most Tropical: Derek Lam
We never thought we'd say this, but doesn't that seashell print look awesome? Derek Lam takes some of our most clichéd summertime references—acidic, punchy brights, seashells, nautical stripes—and makes them all feel delightfully new again.
Most Utterly Divine: Celine
Oh, Phoebe, how we've missed you. We're pretty sure the former Chloé designer's future at Celine is so bright she'll have to wear shades, but she opted instead for sophisticated, structured looks that will carry you well beyond summer. Case in point: her awesome long coats in neutral shades, and that too-good-to-be-true beige cape. Delicious.
Most Imaginitive Prints: Jonathan Saunders
Resort collections should be all about the escape, and Jonathan Saunders packs a double whammy in that category. Not only do we feel like we're tripping when we look at his awesomely hazy rainbow block print, we're dying to take it on our next trip to somewhere beachy. Delicate frills along the hems of skirts make us want to take flight, but the smart and sobering touches of black throughout the collection manage to keep our strappy, platform-heeled feet on the ground.
