Parsons 2010 Fashion Show Gives Us A Sneak Peek Into The Future Of Fashion

Thanks to Tim Gunn's famous phrase "make it work", Parson's has become more than just another New York fashion school. After Project Runway, it seems like the process of getting into the uni has gone from competitive to cut-throat. To recognize the budding talent and give back to the starving, sleep deprived students, Parsons held their annual Fashion Benefit last night that honored Vera Wang and Dr William K. Fung, as well as raised funds for scholarships and other academic programs. Guests included everyone from Vivienne Tam to Patricia Field, who all came out to support the cause as well as check up on new emerging talents. With a group of alumni, (and potential future competition) including fashion heavyweights like Marc Jacobs, students can feel reassured that all their late nights and pin needle pricks will one day pay off. Check out this years winners that clearly "made it work" and are on our list of ones to watch.
Womenswear Designer of the Year Niloufar Mozafari, 22 of Houston, TX
Inspired by the concept of memory and origin, Niloufar's collection of chunky fringe knits and sleek black silhouettes is something that we could totally see inside our closets...hint hint.
Menswear Designer of the Year Dylan Taverner, 22 of Bridgeport, CT
Dylan's nostalgia inspired menswear line looks like something straight off the racks of NYC store Oak. Black, white and gray is a classic combination that never gets old. We likey.
Childrenswear Designer of the Year Susan Kay, 21, of Piedmont, CA We don't have kids (yet), but we're hoping that by the time we do, Susan Kay's designs are being sold in stores. Fun quirky and inspired by "Weird Science", her kooky kids collection is a clear winner.
