Best Coast, Those Darlins, DIIV: July 17, Terminal 5, $30
Our shared love for Best Coast is no secret, so we shouldn’t have to tell you twice to check out bandmates Bethany and Bobb tomorrow at Terminal 5. Also, let us point your attention to Brooklyn’s DIIV, whose newly released debut Oshin is a gorgeous ride filled with chilled-out guitar and summery atmosphere. Get there early, and don’t miss them.
Tuesday, July 17, 7 p.m., Terminal 5, 610 West 56th Street (between 11th and 12th Aves.); 212-582-6600.
While it may seem like just yesterday when we were nodding along to “Body From School,” electropop mainstay Hot Chip have just released their fifth album, Our Heads, and it's as good as anything from their extensive catalog. Opening the show is Chromatics, whose darkly beautiful new record Kill For Love remains one of our favorites of the year.
Friday, July 20, 7 p.m., Terminal 5, 610 West 56th Street (between 11th and 12th Aves.); 212-582-6600.
If the only shows you made it to this summer were the ones thrown by MoMA for PS1 Warm Up, you wouldn’t be doing half bad. This Saturday's highlights include the dark pop of Matthew Dear and the genre-warping bass music of Sepalcure.
Saturday, July 21, 2 p.m. PS1, 22-25 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101; 718-784-2084.
