We called freshman designer Alex Casertano one to watch back in February, and Casertano's fall '10 lookbook is living up to its hype. His sleek, sometimes shiny, teensy-weensy cocktail dresses, sharp blazers, and lurex bodysuits are transformed into a spare, black and white story, with a moody model lounging desultorily and getting playful against a stark background interrupted by some Sol LeWitt type graphics and the occasional ironing board. The artistic modernism makes more sense when you consider that the Yigal Azrou ël and J.Crew alum first studied art at Amherst before working with George Condo and the prestigious Luhring Augustine Gallery. We can't wait to wear the cut-out dress or the lightweight trousers to an art opening!
