5 Cases Of Front Row Manspreading At NYFW

Manspreading (i.e., when male individuals take up way too much room sitting down by spreading their legs) is a well-documented problem in New York. But this contentious issue isn't exclusive to public transportation. By virtue of being a bench located within the geographic boundaries of New York City, even the crowded front row at Fashion Week is subject to a manspread.

Really, sitting is one of the main activities of Fashion Week. Yet during these seven days (in reality, it's a monthlong trek across four cities), your seating assignment is more symbolic than a literal instruction of where to go. Scoring a front row spot is a "Look, ma, I've made it!" designator in the industry: When you finally get there, you take that personal space very seriously. So when your fellow bench mate starts to get comfortable and spread out, it garners a bit of side-eye.

Halfway through New York Fashion Week, we've already spotted a few offenders posing and spreading — while their fellow showgoers politely limit how much space they take up. We found some of these funny and humbling front row moments reminders that celebrities are just like us — just trying to guard their seat (but at a fancy fashion show as opposed to on their morning commute).
