Grast’s New Store Makes The Subway Cool

In all honestly, Port Authority is not a place we really love to spend a considerable amount of time in. Besides the ultra-cheap Greyhound, it's usually an edifice we try not to visit, even going so far to speed up our step when walking by. But suddenly it seems that discount bus fares aren't the only reason to make the trip way west. Dubbed the "first subway store of its kind to open in the US," specialty graphic shop Grast boutique, created by Merwin Andrade, will be a unique attraction in the dark, rather depressing retail spaces under the NYC city streets. According to Andrade, Grast "removes you from the fact that you are in the subway...I saw a void in [this] untapped market." And it seems, with price points all under $100 (with many items for just $5), he may indeed be correct. And Grast's cool selection of plastic toys, graffiti-ish tees, and brightly colored headphones make Port Authority worth a second chance.
