Things have been quiet for Brooklyn trio Au Revoir Simone since 2009’s Still Night, Still Light, but fans of the band should be happy to learn that frontwoman Erika Forster has been busy making her own music under the name Erika Spring.
Taking a hazier approach to Au Revoir Simone’s dream-pop formula, “Hidden” shows Forster gravitating away from the slick pop of her full band toward the more amorphous worlds of Cocteau Twins and shoegaze. This isn’t to say “Hidden” isn’t catchy – it certainly is – but like a sealed geode, you'll have to crack it open to find its crystalline center.
