When it comes to style stars, it takes one to know one. And that's certainly the case for Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum, the mother-daughter team behind StyleLikeU. Mom Elisa, a former stylist and editor, works side by side with her daughter, Lily, and together they've created an entire online world where they scout and document their subjects — showcasing and celebrating their sense of fashion and spirit.
Of course, the greatest story they tell is really about themselves — a family who realizes that beauty doesn't come in one flavor or cookie-cutter shape. And while Elisa and Lily each have their own unique vibes, when blended together, it's the perfect equation for inspiration overload. Ahead, they break down their own authentic style.

My style in six words or less:
Elisa: "Eclectic, bohemian, rock 'n' roll, Edwardian, boyish."
Lily: "Laid-back, feminine, bohemian, a bit nerdy!"

The greatest style lesson I've ever learned:
Elisa: "Authenticity is all that matters."
Lily: "Don’t compare yourself to others when getting dressed. Dress for yourself/body."

Our constant sources of style inspiration:
Elisa and Lily: "Everyone we interview on StyleLikeU. For me, personally (Elisa), I am also constantly inspired by Ramona, our executive editor at StyleLikeU, and Patti Smith. Some of the most inspiring StyleLikeU people for me, personally (Lily), have been Scout Willis, Laila Gohar, and Louise Sturges. I am also pretty inspired by Rihanna, and her whole attitude with her style."

The dressing difficulties I've had to overcome:
Elisa: "Not having enough time to search for what I want, like digging on eBay for stuff."
Lily: "Accepting my body, and learning to not hide my curves in clothing or try to dress like a skinny person."

My first major, big-ticket style purchase:
Elisa: "A Yohji Yamamoto, Edwardian-looking suit that I wish I hadn’t given away!"
Lily: "A Diane von Furstenburg dress in high school that I saw my older brother’s best friend (who I had a girl crush on) wearing to prom and became obsessed with."

My favorite up-and-coming designers:
Elisa: "Houghton."
Lily: "Lindsay Degan! Not really my sense of style, but I love what she is doing with knitwear."

My three favorite places to shop:
Elisa: "Narnia vintage, Manhattan Vintage Show, and Golyester in L.A."

Lily: "The Rose Bowl Flea Market, Reformation, Narnia vintage."
