Found: London’s Coolest Resale Stores

There are no two words we like to put together more than “designer” and “bargain.” And, while we love the excitement generated from online auctions and discount-sale sites, there's something to be said for having a sought-after item in hand before making a purchase. That’s where designer resale shops come in. Offering brands you rarely see on sale, at prices you can actually afford, they are the physical manifestation of our fashion dreams.
In that spirit, we’ve tracked down London’s finest high-end consignment shops where nearly new Prada, Céline, and more await a forever home. Think: Your inner Cher Horowitz could snap up Alaïa heels without blowing her whole allowance. So, what are you waiting for? Get off the sofa and start hunting shopping. Or maybe read the feature first? Your choice.

Bang Bang

Since 2000, Bang Bang has been wowing us with its enticing array of nearly-new designer steals and vintage threads. The local chain has three shops in the heart of London, but the Berwick Street store is our favourite. The shop's imaginative merchandising puts Miu Miu heels alongside Marni handbags and Jean Muir dresses. We promise you'll never leave empty handed.

Bang Bang, 9 Berwick Street, Soho, London, W1F 0PJ; +44 (0) 207 494 2042.

Retro Clothing Exchange

Notting Hill's Retro Clothing Exchange is London's oldest second-hand outfitter. The four-storey enterprise has been selling vintage clothing, home wares, and music to its ever-growing fan base since 1967. And, it's famous in the fashion world for carrying nearly new designer merchandise, too. Many editors and stylists sell their previous-season pieces here so you're all but guaranteed to encounter a killer runway find. The unique pricing system is what really won us over: For every month an item is in the store its price is reduced. It's not unheard of to snap up a Thierry Mugler jacket for under £20 or a pair of Belstaff boots for £60.

Retro Clothing Exchange, 28 Pembridge Road, Notting Hill, London, W11 3HL; +44 (0) 207 727 2040.
