This Is Our Jam Premieres: Claude Violante, “For You” (Video)

Think Little Dragon or Robyn, with a hint of French melancholy and a dose of disco, and you'd be getting close to the sound of Parisian synthpop chanteuse Claude Violante. While she hasn’t yet played a live show (her debut is this November at the Centre Pompidou in Paris), Violante’s blissful melodies and effervescent beats have already been featured over the credits of Jean Dujardin’s film Les Infideles, and she counts as one half of the analog pop duo Haussmann. Not bad for an artist with only one (quite good) EP under her belt.
The new video for “For You” mixes imagery of a sun-dappled meadow with shots of Violente singing over imagery that looks like it was taken from the VHS of a '90s nature documentary. It's the sort of landscape where you'd want to bring a box of wine and spend the day just hanging out. More importantly, it's a perfectly nostalgic vehicle for Violante’s pop, and director Rebecca Bournigault's imagery echoes the song's themes of love and heartbreak (“I only have love for you,” she sings). Remember summer, you guys?
“For You” is available now on her self-titled EP via Tsunami-Addiction, and you can watch the exclusive premiere below as well as listen to the full stream here.
