What happens when the ultimate New York indie queen and the ultimate New York indie boutique throw a party in London, of all places? Judging by the fervent gyrating on the rotating, disco ball-studded dance stage, good things. The launch party for the fall/winter '09 Chloë Sevigny x Opening Ceremony collection got down and dirty Friday night at The Double Club, a Congolese-inspired spot designed by artist Carsten Höller. Opening Ceremony co-founder Humberto Leon explained the escape from New York as "simply wanting to do something different this time around. Also, Chloë was filming in Wales, and a lot of her collection is inspired by London's alternative scene." The same could be said of the party's crowd, which featured more than a few aspiring teddy boys alongside Gareth Pugh and Anouck Lepere—a vision in white with cranberry heels—who told us she was looking forward to seeing Peter Pilotto. Chloë, clad in a black and white striped top and red lipstick, joined well-wishers in singing "Happy Birthday" to Opening Ceremony's Carol Lim before busting some moves on the dance floor. After seeing her killer collection two days later, we say the girl's entitled to a little playtime.
