When it comes to devout NYC designers, Wendy Mullin of Built by Wendy ranks high on our list. And while her approach to young, cool timeless basics rarely strays too far from home, we can always expect a few inspired twists with every new collection. Such is the case with her upcoming fall/winter collection, which, wouldn't you know it, we snagged a peek of right here! Called "Building of the Future," the collection reveals war-time inspirations, ranging from Bauhaus stoicism to the Eastern European youth-in-revolt photography of Josef Koudelka. The grainy photos and odd-ball poses totally channel '80s Vogue, but the clothing is most definitely of-the-moment. The muted palette—grays, warm, earthy browns, and grassy greens—are punctuated by flashes of primary shades and killer prints. We're majorly obsessed with the bomber jackets, plaid voile blouses, and flannel jumpers that will keep us cozy during the winter chill. And that's one war worth fighting for...
