Barbie Goes Front Row at London Fashion Week

We've heard of fashion shows being sponsored by car companies, liquor distributors, even credit cards—but a doll? Well that's a new one on us. But really, who else would you choose as a plastic sponsor other than Barbie, the now 50-year-old one-foot-tall vixen who will be backing both Roksanda Ilincic and Danielle Scutt at London Fashion Week? The match-made-in-heaven (or Toys-R-Us) campaign will not only feature the two runway shows by these rightly respective, feminine designers, but will also include limited, 50-run editions of Barbies dressed by Ilincic and Scutt. Really, who wouldn't want to see Babs in one of Scutt's amazing plaid jumpsuits? As well, the little lady herself will be making front-row appearances at both shows. As Ilincic said in the press release, "I couldn't wait to dress Barbie; she's such an iconic model, and the perfect front row show guest." Indeed, we imagine she'll be dressed to the nines, and we're absolutely sure that her permanent smile will outshine Dame Wintour's famous glower.
