Alife Less Ordinary

Alife_piranha After a month and a half long delay with precious merchandise held hostage at U.S. Customs, ALIFE is back from a hiatus that resulted from developers pushing the maverick shop out of its original Orchard Street locale last year. ALIFE, which opened a week ago next door to its sister store, ALIFE Rivington Club, will almost exclusively sell the brand's own line of stock, including collector's items like the ALIFENYC RTFT shoes, in addition to an expanded line of clothing and jewelry. A few special collaborative pieces will be on display as well, such as ALIFE's co-branded version of Levi's 501s.
The new ALIFE is smaller than the original, but no less worth the visit. Walk in and you'll find yourself in what seems like a sealed nautical chamber with white tiles, the soundtrack from the movie Piranhas playing over a surround-sound system, and an aquarium filled with the aforementioned fish gnawing at a classic ALIFE T-shirt. Pass the hallway and enter the sanctum of this beautifully designed, minimalist space with a huge mirror stretching the length of the store on one side and thick walnut-wood shelves on the other. A spin in the changing roomcontaining a 360-degree infinity mirroris highly recommended.

After a brief disappearance last year and some recent shipping snags, this Lower East Side retail alum has returned to its original stomping ground with a brand-new look, but the vibe is still classic ALIFE.
