Not many 22-year-olds can claim to be fashion-industry veterans. While Karlie Kloss might not self-identify as such, there's no doubt that the model merits this special status, which is allotted to just a select group among twenty-somethings (all conveniently photographed for your reference in last year's Vogue September issue). Kloss still graces the runway with her signature strut, although her appearances are far fewer now that she's pursuing other career ambitions. Nowadays, her Fashion Month has become a mix of active participation and front-row spectating. Lucky for us, that doesn't stop her from showing the next-gen Karlies and Caras how off-duty style is done.
When it comes to workwear, Kloss eschews the same-old model uniform of skinny jeans and leather moto jackets; she's been there and done that — since she was 15, in fact. She's officially grown up, and her Fashion Month outfit choices are the evidence. From tailored blouses to breezy trousers to oversized totes, Karlie's staples are not a far cry from our own work silhouettes. So, we followed her from New York to L.A. to recreate the looks that are — intentionally or otherwise — redefining "off-duty."
