Festival P.S.A.! This Year’s FreeFest Lineup Is Insane

Summer is coming to a close, and that means, among other bummers, the end of epic outdoor music festivals. Luckily, Virgin Mobile's annual FreeFest is coming back to Merriweather Post Pavilion on September 21 to help us go out with a bang — for no buck. We’re all too ready to bop along to Vampire Weekend, Sky Ferreira, and Robin Thicke, and catch our favorite Swedish party-starters, Icona Pop, in all their girl-power glory. Plus, the loaded lineup features a bounty of other must-see artists. We never imagined we’d be eagerly awaiting summer's official last day, but The Avett Brothers, Washed Out, and Pretty Lights have us doing just that.
Behold the complete roster of performers here, and set a calendar alert for Friday, August 9, at noon so you can score your free general admission tickets on Ticketfly. In return, Virgin Mobile asks that you pay it forward and donate at least $10 to E*Generation House, a new transitional living center for D.C.’s homeless youth. Considering we’d drop major bank to see all these acts live, we’ll gladly oblige.
When: Saturday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets available Friday, August 9, at 12 p.m.
Where: Merriweather Post Pavilion, 10475 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia; 410-715-5550.
