2-Rainbow Cake_Goddess and Grocer
This weekend: Pride Fest. Next weekend: the parade. While you're honoring the love and equality, class up your usual MO of spiking a Slurpee and snag these colorful sweets instead — they’re perfect for celebrating some of the most festive days of the year.

Magnolia Bakery

You could start an Instagram feed dedicated to Magnolia Bakery’s special-occasion sweets — the Loop bakery decorates cupcakes with everything from sugary graduation caps to Blackhawks insignias. For Pride, choose from vanilla or chocolate, each topped with vanilla buttercream and edible rainbow decorations. Cost: $3.50; available June 29 and 30 only.

Magnolia Bakery, 108 North State Street (at Washington Street); 312-346-7777.

The Goddess and Grocer

Though it’s on the menu year-round, The Goddess and Grocer’s towering vanilla sponge cake seems tailor-made for Pride: Each layer is dyed a different shade of the rainbow, from red to violet. (No indigo, for the .01% of you who might care.) It’s all separated by buttercream frosting and sprinkled with rainbow nonpareils for good measure. Cost: $7/slice; $80/10” cake (feeds 20; 48-hour advance order required).

Tavernita

All-you-can-eat rainbow gummy bears?! Live your childhood dream at Tavernita’s June 23 Pride brunch. For $18.50, you get four courses of shared plates, a Hennessy cocktail, and unlimited trips to a gummy-bear bar provided by Southport candy store Candyality. Proceeds go to GLAAD, an organization that helps the LGBT community be seen and heard in mainstream media. 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Tavernita,151 West Erie Street (at LaSalle Street); 312-274-1111.

2Sparrows

Cool down without leaving the parade route. On June 30, brunch spot 2Sparrows is offering housemade, fruit-flavored popsicles, available in different shades of the rainbow. Trust us: When the sun’s beating down on you after hours of drinking, a rhubarb popsicle will seem heaven-sent.
