Brian’s Juice
Brian’s was ahead of the juicing curve; the friendly juice bar has been in the Loop for more than eight years. That means the owners have truly perfected their recipes, narrowing the menu down to just two green juices and two red juices, including a berrylicious blend of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry. Sip any juice here as a tasty afternoon treat.

Earth’s Healing Café
The husband-and-wife owners of this North Center spot published a book with 75 raw-juice recipes, but we’d rather visit the teeny café and enjoy a pro-prepared beverage. Sip any of 10 juices or 12 superfood smoothies and you may run into a few unusual ingredients; the Kidney Rejuvenation juice features dandelion and burdock, while the Tree of Life smoothie has moringa oleifera, an evergreen native to India.

Earth’s Healing Café, 1942 West Montrose Avenue (at Winchester Avenue); 773-728-0598.

The Juice Bar at Element Wellness
Tucked inside this Old Town wellness clinic — which also offers spa treatments and chiropractors’ services — is a bar selling tasty juices cold-pressed from organic, raw fruits, and veggies. Every juice has a leafy green paired with sweeter ingredients like pineapple, apple, carrot, or beet; or choose from a list of superfood smoothies that pack everything from bee pollen to elk antlers. Pros at Element can explain the health benefits of each and help you pick the right juice for you.

Green Corner
Sisters and yoga instructors Colleen and Elizabeth Murzyn opened this Bucktown juice bar in 2010 after doing a weeklong juice fast in Bodrum, Turkey. They’ll work with you to design a custom juice regimen based on your health goals and diet restrictions; you can work the juices around healthy meals rather than cutting out solid food completely. An à la carte menu includes five green juices, four smoothies, and even two juices designed for kids, adorably named The Hulk and The Elmo.

Green Corner, 1880 North Damen Avenue (at Cortland Street); 773-292-4393.

Juice Rx
Here, the options are a wonderful thing, because a well-informed staff will be able to help you choose the exact right juice for you. (For example, looking to seriously slash sugar? Extreme Green it is.) All juices are made with a hydraulic press, which applies 5,000 pounds of pressure to fruits and veggies to make juice that’s so fine and pulp-free, your body can quickly absorb the nutrients. Hello, glowing skin!

Mana Food Bar
It was love at first bite when we ate at this charming vegetarian restaurant in Wicker Park — and that was even before we discovered the lineup of almond-milk smoothies and build-your-own fresh-squeezed juices. Choose any three of the 10 available ingredients: pineapple, apple, pear, orange, carrot, beet, celery, cucumber, ginger, and collard greens, which work surprisingly well in a green juice.

The Raw Juice Bar at Protein Bar
With its lineup of sweet smoothies that don’t dump in added sugar and hefty burritos that are somehow healthy, too, Protein Bar is the King Midas of restaurants: Everything it touches turns to health-food gold. Its raw juice bar (now at every location but the original PB on Franklin) is no different. The team worked hard to pack every fresh-squeezed juice with all of the nutrients you need and none of the extras. The Beetbox (apple, cucumber, beet, carrot, ginger) is our favorite for the taste and the name, but the Corazón is a close second: Chipotle adds a pleasant kick to a blend of apples, beets, and carrots.

Started by pals Polly Gaza and Carole Jones at a farmers’ market in Michigan, Raw is now a health-food lover’s paradise in River North, offering sweets, spreads, breads, and, of course, juices! The signature green juice comes by the bottle, six-pack, or custom order. And, we’re obsessed with the Velvety Almond, a milky blend of raw almonds and dates. The smoothies here are also addictive, especially the best-selling blend of organic grapefruit juice, goji berries, banana, spirulina, and hemp seeds. It’s sweet and tart with just a hint of that healthy green flavor.

Raw, 51 West Huron Street (at Dearborn Street); 312-664-2729.
